    Psychopathy as a taxon: evidence that psychopaths are a discrete class.G. T. Harris, M. E. Rice & V. L. Quinsey - 1994 - Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology 62 (2):387-397.
Taxometric analyses were applied to the construct of psychopathy (as measured by the Psychopathy Checklist) and to several variables reflecting antisocial childhood, adult criminality, and criminal recidivism. Subjects were 653 serious offenders assessed or treated in a maximum-security institution. Results supported the existence of a taxon underlying psychopathy. Childhood problem behaviors provided convergent evidence for the existence of the taxon. Adult criminal history variables were continuously distributed and were insufficient in themselves to detect the taxon.

Discovery and Revelation: The Consciences of Christians, Public Policy, and Bioethics Debate.G. T. Brown - 2012 - Christian Bioethics 18 (1):41-58.
Health care begins as an act of conscience, which urges a response to the sick and holds caregivers accountable to moral standards that public authorities ultimately do not define. Conscience nonetheless expresses itself as a type of dialogue within oneself that is influenced by dialogue with others, especially with society in the form of civil law and professional standards. A well-formed conscience for health care relates the foundations of morality to health care practices and contributes sound moral judgment about them (...)

Editorial comment on Y M Barilan's 'Is the clock ticking for the terminally ill patients in Israel?'.G. T. Laurie - 2004 - Journal of Medical Ethics 30 (4):358-358.
The act/omission distinction is used throughout Western legal systems, and indeed elsewhere, to police the boundaries between acceptable medical practice and unacceptable interventions designed to bring about the death of patients. Without exception, it has proved impossible to maintain the distinction with any clarity. In the United Kingdom, for example, it is lawful both to withhold and to withdraw from a patient treatment that the medical ….

    On the logical structure of quantum mechanics.G. T. Rüttimann - 1970 - Foundations of Physics 1 (2):173-182.
Croc lattices are of central importance in the mathematical foundation of quantum mechanics. They reflect the structure of the logical calculus of propositions concerning microphenomena. In this context, the mathematical consequences resulting from the special structure of the lattice are of particular interest. Beginning with the notion of hemimorphism of a croc lattice, we get, in a natural way, an extension of the structure of the lattice by the Baer *-semigroup. We embed the Baer *-semigroup in an algebra with generalized (...)

Law and legacy in medical jurisprudence: essays in honour of Graeme Laurie.G. T. Laurie, E. S. Dove & Niamh Nic Shuibhne (eds.) - 2022 - New York, NY: Cambridge University Press.
Graeme Laurie stepped down from the Chair in Medical Jurisprudence at the University of Edinburgh in 2019. This edited collection pays tribute to his extraordinary contributions to the field. Graeme has often spoken about the importance of 'legacy' in academic work and has forged a remarkable intellectual legacy of his own, notably through his work on genetic privacy, human tissue and information governance, and on the regulatory salience of the concept of liminality. The essays in this volume animate the concept (...)

    (1 other version)Mathematical Formalisms and Their Realizations.G. T. Kneebone - 1952 - Philosophy 27 (101):138 - 147.
In a short article, published in an earlier volume of Philosophy 1 under the title “Philosophy and Mathematics,” I tried to explain the current conception of pure mathematics as the study of abstract structure by construction and elaboration of appropriate axiomatic formalisms. In the present paper I propose to consider certain philosophical problems, of interest to philosophers and mathematicians alike, which have their origin in the relation between such formalisms and any applications to experience that they may possess. Consideration of (...)

    Philosophy and Mathematics.G. T. Kneebone - 1947 - Philosophy 22 (83):231 - 239.
This essay is an attempt to take stock of what has been done by those who have worked on the foundations of mathematics and to suggest, very inadequately in so short a space, what may be a satisfactory approach to this subject for one who is not an expert in it. The subject is one that neither mathematicians nor philosophers can any longer afford to ignore, but in the technicalities of which they may not be very interested.

  49. Mathematical logic and the foundations of mathematics: an introductory survey.G. T. Kneebone - 1963 - Mineola, N.Y.: Dover Publications.
Graduate-level historical study is ideal for students intending to specialize in the topic, as well as those who only need a general treatment. Part I discusses traditional and symbolic logic. Part II explores the foundations of mathematics, emphasizing Hilbert’s metamathematics. Part III focuses on the philosophy of mathematics. Each chapter has extensive supplementary notes; a detailed appendix charts modern developments.
